7 Ways to Make Your Wedding Unforgettable

Weddings are one of the season's most enjoyable occasions – love is in the air, sweets at every turn, music and dancing that will make even old uncle Bob put on his dancing shoes – they can be an absolute blast. But between the ceremony, photos, and long, teary-eyed speeches, it can be easy for guests who aren't part of the wedding party to run out of steam. So how do you keep your beloved family and friends engaged (pardon the pun) on your big day?

 1. DANCE BINGO

Nothing says "let's party" like a good game of BINGO.
OK, maybe not. However, this game is sure to get your guests out of their seats and mingling in no time. Each guest receives a stamp and a BINGO-style card. Instead of a number in each square there is another guests name. To win at Dance Bingo, the guests must meet and dance with the person in the square to stamp it off. First guests to cover 5 of the squares in a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal row, each win different prizes. You pick the prizes, but here are some suggestions to start you off:.

/ = Groomsmen vs. Bridesmaids dance off

\ = Bride vs .Groom dance off

| = Pick the next song for the newlyweds to dance to

–– = Pick a dance move the newlyweds have to use for their next dance

There's a ton of variations that you can do with this game, It's your wedding, get creative!

 2. SIT, STAND, SPIN

Playing a game of musical chairs at a wedding sounds like a logistical nightmare but getting guests out of their seats and onto the dance floor can take some prompting. So let's make it simple. Pick up a cheap hand bell. Before your reception gets underway let everyone know that when you ring that bell, whomever is sitting has to stand up and dance and the people dancing get to take a break. It's a great way to switch up the groove and have the wallflowers get their buttercups on the dance floor.

3. DIY CUPCAKE BAR

Wedding cakes are cool, doughnut walls are delicious, but what if you and your guests could make your own decadent dessert just the way you like it? Lay out varieties of un-iced cupcakes, some different types of icing and an array of toppings and let your guests get creative! Oreo crumbs, gummy bears, maple sugar, fruits, nuts, even bacon. The possibilities are endless in giving your guests (and yourself) a treat to talk about.

(Pro tip: for large amounts of icing without all the mess of piping bags and spatulas, use squeezable condiment bottles. They're inexpensive and come in a variety of different sizes and you can change the amount of icing you squeeze out just by cutting the tip!)

4. PILLOW TALK

Receptions can get a bit rigid, so why not have a corner of the reception area with a pile of pillows to soften it! This gives guests a comfortable, memorable place to relax when they need to rest their legs. If you include word pillows in the mix, they can compose their own personalized message to the happy couple.

(Pro-tip: For an even more personalized experience you can get pillows printed with your names and wedding date and have guests take these home as a reminder of your special day)

5. BALLOON BLITZ

Along the same lines as Dance Bingo, this is a way of getting guests mixing and mingling (or for you to do a little matchmaking). On the back of each persons chair is a balloon. Inside each balloon is a slip of paper with another guests name on it. At one point in the evening, everyone pops their balloon (a fun endeavor in itself), finds the guest who's name is on the paper and dances with them during the next song.

 6. VOW AD LIBS

You’ve had your ceremony, you’ve said your vows, but what would have happened if you let your guests write those special words to your special someone? Print out your vows but leave many of the important words blank. Leave one of these at each place setting and let your guests go to work. Guests put them in a box and you can read them throughout the night. When you look into your lovers eyes and what was “I vow to love your family” becomes “I vow to lick your cat”, it’s guaranteed to have your guests roaring with laughter.

 7. DRIFTING DELIGHTS

Helium balloons are a great way to dress up a room. Not only do they make great decorations, but they’re a fantastic way to give your guests an unexpected treat. Attach a chocolate, sweet, or small prize to one end of a ribbon and tie it to a balloon filled with helium. You want them full enough that the gift at the end floats over peoples heads. As the night goes on guests can reach up and grab the floating treats.
